‘Mystic Prowler’ dies in taxi

Calypsonian Roy Lewis, 56, known in the calypso world as “Mystic Prowler” died yesterday while travelling in a taxi. He reportedly suffered a massive heart attack. Reports revealed that around 3.30 pm, Lewis of Almond Drive, Morvant, boarded a taxi at Morvant Junction and asked to be taken to D’Abadie where he planned to visit a female friend. Reports revealed that on reaching San Juan, Lewis began gasping for breath and collapsed in the taxi. The driver of the car drove the vehicle to the San Juan Sub Station where police officers alerted a District Medical Officer. Titus Lewis, son of the dead calypsonian was contacted; he went to the scene where he identified the body of his father. Lewis won the calypso monarch in 1998, and was recently employed at Mas Camp Pub as an entertainer.
