No asthma or rash

THE EDITOR: As a real Point Fortin resident, I am amazed by the misinformation offered to your readers by letter writer Ulric Guy.
I live close to the plant and here we have no asthma epidemic, rash or muscular problems more than anybody else.

We in Point Fortin have complained for a long time about dust from the Atlantic construction site, the flares and about damage to our coastline, but asthma and rash complaints came with FFOS. Their agents came into our community, asking people if they had asthma and rash, did not examine anybody. FFOS came here, stirred up trouble for whatever reasons, then left. We, who stayed back, have to deal with the bad feeling and find a way to live with Atlantic. The fact is that 30 or 40 people, even if their problem is real, do not speak for all of Point Fortin and the majority of us have no problem with Atlantic.

The majority of us do not live close to the plant. Those living close to the plant who have a problem seem to be sorting it out with Atlantic.
Where was FFOS when Point Fortin was dying. What solution are they offering to people other than a set of antagonism? Relocation is one solution. Dengue is not asthma and everybody in this town not stupid. If Mr Guy can’t see how seven million a year from Atlantic could help deal with our problems there are thankfully enough of us who can. We have enough real problems with drugs and unemployment to get sidetracked.
