MATT congratulates Newsday

The Media Association of TT has congratulated Newsday on the paper’s 10th anniversary and the move to new offices at Independence Square, Port-of-Spain.

In a letter to Editor-in-Chief Therese Mills, President of MATT, Dale Enoch, applauded the achievements of Newsday and its staff “and recognises this arm of the media as vital to the entire industry and by extension the democracy.” He said the Newsday team’s commitment to getting the story is unstoppable. Enoch said Newsday’s widespread coverage in the interest of the nation is noted by this executive and obviously by others and showed in successful readership numbers.
MATT has over the past ten years welcomed the support given by staff, especially Suzanne Shepherd. Enoch also praised Newsday’s willingness to get involved when called. “At the last two major fund-raisers of the Media Association, Newsday was well represented and we welcomed your participation in the RBTT/MATT/ TTPBA Excellence in Journalism Awards earlier this year.” On a personal note, Enoch commended the continued reminder of the importance of press freedom by Newsday’s simple and effective front page badge: “Freedom of the Press — A Constitutional Right in Trinidad and Tobago.”
