DEADLINE FOR RANSOM $$ TODAY

The family of kidnap victim, Shakti Pooran, has been given until today, to raise the ransom money needed to secure his release.

Shakti, 19, the son of Gopaul Pooran, proprietor of Pooran’s Glass Suppliers of San Fernando, went missing on Thursday and his kidnappers have since demanded $200,000 for his return. Contacted yesterday, Pooran’s aunt, Jassodra, said that the kidnappers had again contacted the family late on Saturday evening and delivered the ultimatum to father, Gopaul Pooran. She said that the kidnappers  refused to lower their demands or allow the family to speak to the young man. “They did not want to compromise on how much money they were asking for or even to allow the father talk to Shakti,” she said.
