Road hazard at Claxton Bay
THE EDITOR: As a concerned citizen I would like to bring to your attention what is happening in my community in the vicinity of Claxton Bay.
A certain contractor has been hauling sand from the Windsor Park Quarry to TCL compound; this 24-hour operation has been going on for the past five months. Due to the size and number of trucks using our roads, the road is in a dilapidated condition; the road has become dirty due to excess sand falling from the trucks, adding to the amount of slush present on the road that creates a road hazard to motorists and an increase in accidents. The dust is affecting our children’s health and the constant passing of the trucks is adding to noise pollution as well. I would like to know why doesn’t the EMA put a stop to this?” Another question I would like answered stems from the fact that they have been obtaining this sand from the Winsor Quarry Park owned by Caroni 1975 Ltd, which is no longer in operation. Are they authorised?
