Consumer Affairs watches chicken prices

Officers from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Consumer Affairs Division, will be visiting poultry depots nationwide from Friday  to Sunday to monitor chicken prices.

All officers will be properly identified as they visit the various depots to ensure that poultry producers are honouring the new price range for chicken. The Ministry of Legal Affairs met with poultry producers in September after the average chicken price rose to $4.65 per pound. As a result of agreements made at this meeting, Cabinet requested that the price of live chicken be kept  between $3.50 and $3.99 per pound.
