I am no criminal

THE EDITOR: It is with great offence that I listened to that ridiculous ad that points to me as being a criminal.

Who thought up such a guilt trip to put on the innocent people of this land, and how could they have the gall to place it on us at a time like this? I am no criminal if I smoke, which I do. So what if I over indulge in rum and other vices, (which I will after I fast). I am not the one who goes out there and kidnaps other people’s children, rapes or murders. How dare you infer that I am a criminal. I am not perfect, but do not insinuate that my little injustices are a major contributor to what is the paranoia that is our society today. I am not a criminal you fickle minded group. Why don’t you tell the one who is responsible for the committee that he should stop blaming everyone else for the problem and look towards dealing with the situation effectively. Not another animal-named project or some silly rhetoric. Look around you; petty crimes and major ones are on the increase. How could it be safe? The average man is not safe and only the average man seems to know that! Look, the next time I decide to get drunk out of my mind you can arrest me for the next kidnapping because it is all one and the same. The irony is when a former prime minister made a comment about teachers and likened them to criminals, the media got everyone whipped up in a frenzy about it. The current PM had accused us all of the same and no one seemed to care. I wonder if this letter will be published at all?
