69-year-old woman held for cocaine trafficking
A 69-year-old woman was among 15 persons arrested during an exercise carried out by officers of the Robbery Squad and Task Force on Friday afternoon. The woman and three other female relatives were arrested after a quantity of cocaine was seized by officers. They were charged with trafficking in cocaine. Reports revealed that around 4.30 pm, officers led by Ag Sgt Ajith Persad went to the Bassie Corner, Spring Village home of the elderly woman where they carried out an exercise. During the search, a quantity of cocaine was allegedly seized at the home of the woman. Officers later went to Felicity where they arrested two men on an outstanding warrant.
The men were wanted for an incident which occurred on March 23 at Cacandee Road, Felicity where the victim had an altercation with two men who struck him on the right eye. He suffered injuries to the eye and made a report to the Chaguanas Police Station. Another man was arrested and handed over to officers of the Northern Division who wanted him for questioning about a recent murder. Others were arrested for questioning about robberies in Central Division. Officers also raided several drug dens and seized a quantity of drugs. The exercise started at 1 pm and ended at 6 pm. Other officers taking part in the exercise included PCs Ramsook, Dhanai, Narcis, Williams, Guelmo and Basraj.
