Armed bandits rob three businessmen

A 51-year-old businessman was beaten and  robbed of his Smith and Wesson gun, $5,000, and cell phone on Friday night. Reports revealed that Marlon Look Yan, the owner of New Car Rentals in Cocorite and a lotto outlet at West Mall, secured the lotto booth around 6 pm and proceeded to walk towards his car. Reports revealed that on reaching the vicinity of Hi-Lo supermarket, the businessman was approached by two men armed with guns. They proceeded to beat up Look Yan and relieved him of the gun, cash and cellphone. A report was made to the Four Roads Police Station and the injured man was taken to the Community Hospital at Cocorite where he was treated and discharged. Inspectors Thomas and Sgt Ramsubhag visited the scene of the robbery.

Also, around 1.30 pm on Friday, Zahir Dean, a 32-year-old man of Charlieville who is the owner of Car Accessories, was carrying out sales at his businessplace when two men armed with guns held him up and robbed him of $4,800. They then fired several shots at Dean before escaping. Shortly after, Dhanook Maharaj of Edinburgh 500 was at his businessplace Ainsburgh Mini Mart at Caroni Savannah Road conducting sales, when three men armed with guns held him up and robbed him of $2,500. A party of officers led by Ag Sgt Ajith Persad and including Cpl Salick and PCs Terrence Williams and Jitendra Toolaram visited the scene. Investigations are continuing.
