Illegal U-turn at Westmall

THE EDITOR: I have been meaning to write this letter for some time. I live in the west and I am sick and tired of people making an illegal U-turn near Westmall where McDonalds used to be. Most of the time, these people shop at Westmall Hi-Lo, get back onto the highway, turn right near to McDonalds and simply refuse to go all the way down to the Chamber of Commerce to turn. They obviously want to go back to Port-of-Spain or to Morne Coco Road and are too careless or lazy to make the extra effort. I myself have grown accustomed to going past Hi-Lo’s convenience store, making a right turn, then right again which takes me straight to the traffic lights legally!!! I am warning the authorities. One of these days there is going to be a major accident at those lights. Someone is going to hurt a child crossing the road, someone will hit another car, or somebody’s “nice car” is going to get “bounce.” Let me also add, that this illegal U-turn is made by all types of people, young, old, white, black, Mercedes Benz or Lancer. Come on people! You know who you are! Discipline yourselves! For an extra few minutes, you can do the right thing, set an example for your children, and avoid contributing to a potential accident. Next time you think about doing it, make a decision not to. It might actually feel good.
