MISS MUST GO
A PENAL housewife is calling for the removal of a primary school teacher who allegedly excessively beat and insulted her six-year-old daughter Kimberly because the child was unable to write a capital “C.” An outraged Natasha Persad told Sunday Newsday: “For years parents have been complaining about that teacher because she is very wicked to the children. I certainly don’t want that woman to teach my child again.” Kimberly attends Penal Presbyterian School. On Wednesday, Persad’s daughter, Kimberly, came home with welts at the back of both her legs and explained she got the blue and black marks after her teacher beat her at school. Persad said her daughter’s skin was tender and swollen, and lumps had formed in the child’s calves.
That evening Persad took the matter to the Penal Police Station and lodged a report. She also took her child for medical attention at the Penal Health Centre as the little girl complained of pains in her legs and headaches. The alleged incident took place at the Penal Presbyterian School on Wednesday around 2 pm when Persad’s daughter Kimberly, a First Year pupil, was praticing her writing skills with the rest of the class. Little Kimberly said when her teacher examined her work, “Miss” got angry. Kimberly said: “Miss pull up my hair and slam my head on the desk, then she beat me with a ruler. She also called me a “dog” and a “dunce.”
