Desalination Plant down — water supply interrupted
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) yesterday advised that changes in pipe borne water supply schedules and lower than normal pressures experienced by customers in South and Central Trinidad have been due to a non-functioning Desalination Plant at Point Lisas. In a release, WASA said that the Plant has been experiencing technical problems since October 4.
Areas affected include Kelly Village, Caroni, Cunupia, Longdenville, Chaguanas, Carapichaima, Couva, Point Lisas, Claxton Bay, San Fernando, La Romaine, Palmiste, South Oropouche, Rousillac, La Brea, Siparia, Quarry, Debe and Santa Flora. The Authority has made adjustments in its operations to ensure an equitable distribution of supplies from alternative sources and apologises for any inconvenience.
