Stabbed man critical, deaf/mute detained
A 40-YEAR-OLD man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest by a deaf/mute relative, on Tuesday.
Alexis Ransome, of Pascal Road, Piparo, underwent emergency surgery and remains warded in unsatisfactory condition at the San Fernando General Hospital. The 29-year-old suspect, an outpatient of the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital, has been detained and is expected to be charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Police reports stated that the incident which occurred around 8.30 pm, took place after the deaf/mute was beaten and became annoyed. He is said to have whipped out a knife and stabbed Ransome in the lower part of his chest. Neighbours who saw what happened, restrained the deaf/mute and telephoned the police and ambulance service.
Princes Town police are continuing investigations.
