Vacuous statement, Mr Enill

THE EDITOR: In reference to the firing of the Chairman of the UTC on Friday last, the Junior Finance Minister was quoted as saying, “The Chairman was appointed by the Government to maintain stability in the system and the recent events that have surfaced are inconsistent with the stability of the system.”

Does this give us poor mortals grounds to hope that the instigator of the event that has turned out to be inconsistent with the stability of the system will be the next to go, and following that those others who have caused instability in other “systems” in our lives eg the judicial process. I shudder to think of the result if the same standard was applied to the entire Cabinet! Come to think of it, what system are we talking about? The UTC is a corporation. I thought the Governor of the Central Bank was appointed to maintain stability in the “system” (financial that is) and as he was unable to stop the recent events that have surfaced that are inconsistent with the system; will he have to go too? Vacuous statements that continue to pour forth from any Government are a main contributor to “instability” in any system! Does that mean you have to go too Mr Enill? I hope not!
