Kidnapped teen released
SCHOOLBOY Christopher Tackorie, 14, who was kidnapped three days ago, was released in Chaguanas unharmed on Wednesday night, after his relatives reportedly paid an undisclosed portion of the $3 million dollars demanded by the kidnappers for the boy’s safe release. When Newsday visited the Tackorie residence at Purcell Street, San Fernando, in an effort to interview the teen and/or his family, the house was well-secured and a yellow strip of cloth with the words “our prayers have been answered... Richard Banfield and family,” was tied on the front gate. Tackorie, a Form 3 pupil of St Benedict’s College, La Romain, was dropped off around 11 pm under the Chaguanas Flyover, near the Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet. Police sources said the kidnappers told the teenager to go to KFC because his father was waiting for him. Police sources said the teenager was not hurt and was treated well by his kidnappers.
Tackorie, the son of Lindburg Tackorie, a director at General Earth Movers, was snatched from outside his Purcell Street, San Fernando home, on Sunday evening. The teenager was about to enter his yard around 5 pm, when a white car with two armed occupants stopped abreast him. One of the gunmen came out of the vehicle, grabbed the boy and bundled him into the car. They then sped off. While there were three cars parked in front of the house yesterday and the upstairs door was open, no one came out of the house to speak with reporters. San Fernando Police are continuing investigations.
