Bilge over Pigeon Point ownership
THE EDITOR: I have been trying to find an Internet contact to send the letter to Radio Tambrin. Unfortunately, the websites listed provide no contacts. Could you assist me?
Dear Mr Leacock: It is a pity that your radio programmes should devote themselves to a daily dose of nauseous bilge concerning the ownership and development of Pigeon Point. The opinions expressed are so unworthy. Tobagonians are a civilised group of people who uphold the law and recognise the need to protect their freedoms. How would you feel if a group of dissidents stormed your offices and took away your private property? If you keep promoting lawlessness, that day will come. Take a careful look at the man that so many of your regular contributors try to defile and then look carefully at the men who are doing the defiling!
The American Foundation for the University of the West Indies hold an Annual Gala, “The Legacy Contin-ues,” in New York City. In the past they have nominated such fav-ourite sons as Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley, Butch Stewart, Sir Sidney Poitier, Sir Fred Gollop, Dr Eric Williams, Arthur Lok Jack, Sir George Alleyne, Michael Lee Chin, and favourite daughters Cicely Tyson and Louise Bennett-Coverly to receive recognition awards for outstanding contributions made in their respective fields.
This year they have selected as one of the Caribbean Luminaries for 2004, Anthony N Sabga for his unwavering commitment to social issues. This is yet another outstanding award to this unique man — a man who was awarded the Chaconia Medal Gold, the second highest award his country can bestow. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of the West Indies for his contributions to his country. He is a man committed to the welfare of Trinidad and Tobago yet you allow a constant parade of abuse to be broadcast from your radio station by a small group of people who have contributed nothing to the growth and development of the country. One day Tobagonians will learn the truth.
