Passing of a noble soul
THE EDITOR: Hindus, and indeed the national community, are mourning the passing of a noble soul, Dharmacharya Pundit Krishna Maharaj of Caroni. Pundit Krishna, as he was lovingly known, devoted most of his life to serving humanity and perpetuating the religion of his choice, Hinduism. He would be remembered for his twinkling eyes, sparkling personality and gentle spirit. Those of us who were lucky enough to listen to him from the singhasan will forever remember his poignant messages and haunting voice as he chanted verses from the holy books. His passing is a tremendous loss to our society and it is such a pity that the state was unable to redress the issue of the highest national award so that he could have accepted it. After all, Pundit Krishna did serve the national community well. Condolences to his family and may Lord Rama keep his soul safely.
