Temporary senators appointed
PRESIDENT George Maxwell Richards has appointed two temporary senators. Acting on the advice of Prime Minister Patrick Manning, Joan Hackshaw-Marslin was appointed a temporary government senator yesterday in the absence of Social Services Delivery Minister Senator Christine Kangaloo. Acting in accordance with Section 40 (2) and Section 44 of the Constitution, Richards appointed Basharat Ali a temporary independent senator in the absence of Professor Ken Ramchand. Ali’s appointment becomes effective from today.
