No bail for man charged with attempted murder of cop

KEVIN Gonzales, 26, of La Romaine was denied bail yesterday when he appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate charged with attempting to murder a policeman. Gonzales appeared before acting deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington, who presided in the First Court, charged with attempting to murder Constable Seepersad of the San Fernando police station on September 26. The charge was laid indictably. PC Seepersad was shot in the back of his head in La Romaine, while trying to arrest the defendant. The officer was off-duty at the time.  PC Seepersad was taken to hospital for emergency surgery. PC Seepersad, who was hospitalised, has been since released. Gonzales is due to re-appear in court on November 3 pending tracing.
