Tigers begin Intercol defence today
ST ANTHONY’S will start the defence of their North Zonal Intercol football title when the RBTT Intercol tournament begins today.
But the “Westmoorings Tigers” will have to draw on all their reserves following their tense 2-1 win over Arima at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo in Saturday’s final of the British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Big 5 League contest. Facing the Tigers at the Mucurapo venue from 3 pm is Diego Martin, who made little impact during their second straight season at this level. The Diego lads were soundly beaten 4-1 and 6-0 by St Anthony’s in both Zone Championships fixtures and their season will most come to an end today. North Zone runners-up Malick will square off against Fatima in the second match of the day’s double-header from 5 pm. Both teams have defeated each other once this season, with Malick winning their first encounter 3-1 while Fatima took the second battle 2-1.
