Grande man robbed of $45,000

$45,000 was taken from a Sangre Grande businessman by three bandits while he was on his way to deposit the money at a bank in the area on Tuesday evening. Dave Bissram reported to the Sangre Grande police that he had just left his business place at San Louis Road, Guaico, with a relative, Seecharam Bissram, to make a deposit at a bank in Sangre Grande at 5:30 pm.

While on his way, a vehicle with three men dressed in mechanic uniforms forced his vehicle to come to a stop. The men ordered Bissram and his relative out of the car and grabbed the bag with the money. One of the bandits then jumped in Bissram’s car and drove off leaving them behind. Around 8 pm that same evening, police recovered the two vehicles abandoned on the Cunaripo Road, Sangre Grande. Acting Corporal Fuentes of the Sangre Grande Police Station is investigating.
Also, around 10:30 pm on Tuesday, a PH driver of Sangre Grande was held up by a lone gunman and robbed of $60. Twenty-year-old Sherwin Bennette told police he was plying his car for hire between Sangre Grande and Valencia and on reaching the Valencia stretch, the man pulled out a gun and ordered him to hand over his money. The man then jumped out of the vehicle and escaped. Investigations are continuing.
