Bandits and off duty cop in shootout
Four bandits armed with guns stormed into Outer Town Sports Club located at the Petit Valley Main Road around 2 am yesterday, and attempted to rob the proprietor. An off duty police officer who was sitting inside the bar fired at the bandits who returned fire. One bandit was shot and he along with his three accomplices fled the scene empty-handed. Simon Daniel, the proprietor of the club told Sunday Newsday that the bandits entered the club while the cleaner was tidying up. He said that when the bandits entered the Sports Club they were confronted by the off duty police officer who fired at them. Daniel said that last Tuesday, two gunmen entered his business place and attempted to rob him. He said that he struggled with the bandits, but one of the gunmen robbed a group of men who were gambling of more than $100. Daniel said that he has been robbed six times at his bar. He is hoping that police officers beef up the patrols in Petit Valley and surrounding areas to deal with an upsurge of crime in the area.
