Bullet found in taxi

POLICE are trying to locate a suspect who travelled in a taxi yesterday and accidentally dropped a bullet for a high powered sub-machine gun.

The Siparia taxi driver, whose name was witheld by police for his protection, walked into the Siparia CID around midday yesterday with the 5.56 calibre bullet,  and reported that he found the ammunition in the back seat of his vehicle. Investigators said the ammunition could be used in a AK-47 sub-machine gun or a Galil firearm. Police said they had taken a description and the location of most of the passengers the driver had dropped off during that time. The detectives are also searching for one particular suspect, whom they believe may know something about the lost illegal ammunition. PC Alexander is continuing investigations.
