Girl, man chopped in Princes Town

A FIGHT between two rival gangs in Princes Town led to a 17-year-old girl and man being chopped yesterday morning.

A 23-year-old suspect has been arrested for wounding Ann Maria Primus, of Lengua Road, with intent to do her grievous bodily harm. Two other suspects, ages 17 and 19, were also arrested for possession of a cutlass. According to police reports, around 1.30 am, a fight broke out between members of the two gangs at St Croix. Police officers of the Princes Town Police Station responded and arrested the three suspects. The teenager, who was chopped on her left arm, and Kevin Alfred, 23, who was chopped on his right wrist, were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where they were treated and discharged. When Newsday visited the teenager’s home yesterday, Primus refused to come out of the house, and relatives said she did not want to be interviewed. Villagers also declined to speak on the incident for fear of their safety. Ag Cpl Sookoo is continuing investigations.
