Couple back in court for illegal cremation

SELF-proclaimed natural healer Lawrence Reid, 70, and his wife Sandra Reid, 33, reappeared before a Pt Fortin magistrate yesterday to answer charges of illegally cremating their 17-month-old daughter.

And once again, the presiding Magistrate, Rae Roopchand, sent the couple to the St Anns Psychiatric Hospital for further psychiatric evaluation. The case was adjourned to November 18. The couple, who live at Salazar Trace, Pt Fortin, with their four children, were charged with carrying out a cremation without a relevant license, performing a cremation within 100 yards of a dwelling house and disposing of human remains in a place not permitted for such. The incidents are alleged to have occurred between September 1 and 2.
