He was a good man

Beverly Shouldice, wife of one of the foreign oil engineers killed in a crash at Couva early yesterday, sobbed uncontrollably at her Alberta, Canada, home yesterday and described her husband Denis Brian Shouldice, 51, as a very good person.

She said that he was a father of three and was expected home last night. “Please, please, I do not want to say anything at this time,” the grieving woman claimed as her sobs were heard over the phone. When asked if she will be coming to Trinidad to claim the body of her husband, she said that she will not be doing so. While Newsday was speaking to the operator to source the telephone number of the second victim, Kenneth Lewis, of Mississippi, USA, he said “I can’t continue this call again because they have just announced a bomb scare in the building.

The lines continued to be busy with a recording stating all circuits are busy at this time. TSTT officials confirmed yesterday that employees have refused to work since the bomb scare but they expect the situation to be rectified by today. Newsday learnt that the bodies of the two foreign oil engineers who died in an accident at Couva yesterday are to be flown to their families today. Police investigators told Newsday that once the bodies are identified, the autopsy will be carried out and both the American and Canadian Embassies are assisting in having the bodies flown to the respective families.
