Arima teens face kidnapping, robbery charges
Rawl Davis, 19, of La Horquetta and Densil Daniel, 18, of Malabar, appeared before Arima First Court Magistrate Gail Gonzales yesterday charged with the kidnapping and robbery with violence of Cuthbert Humphreys on Monday.
Davis is also charged with possession of a firearm. The two are alleged to have kidnapped Humphreys from the Cane Farm/Dinsley taxi stand. He was then reportedly taken to the Heights of Guanapo, Arima, where he was stripped and his hands tied before he was robbed. The bandits then threw him down an 80-foot precipice. Police recovered the car in Wallerfied after a chase and Humphreys was found in the Guanapo forest.
When the two youths appeared before Gonzalez, they were not called on to plead as the matter was adjourned for tracing. They were however advised to seek bail from a judge in chambers. Meanwhile, police believe they have been able to make a small dent in a car-stealing/robbery ring. Police believe the car, a silver Nissan B15, was to be used in one or two robberies before the number plate would be changed and the car sold for its fast engine. According to statistics, the B12s, 13s, 14s, 15s and 16s are stolen more often than any other cars because of the demand for their superior speed. The teens are to reappear in court on November 12. Cpl Wayne Winston is investigating the matter.
