Giving thanks for a miracle
THE EDITOR: Please permit me a space in your newspaper, in your editorial section to express the following sentiments. It is with deepest gratitude to the residents of Pax Vale, Santa Cruz and San Juan I write this letter. On Saturday October 11, 2003 I experienced and pulled through what I can truly describe as the worst episode of my life, as I nearly lost my son Brandon, who was swept away into an underground drainage pipeline by flood waters.
Amidst all the negativity, that emanates from our society, it is with great comfort to me and I am sure many others that there exist so many selfless and concerned individuals who would not only give up their time but brave what was more than inclement weather to assist my family and I in our time of need. I would like to extend my deepest thanks and love to those who braved the torrential showers and assiduously searched Pax Vale and its environs for my son Brandon. With their efforts, prayers and thanks to God, he was subsequently found shaken but not physically harmed. My deepest thanks and appreciation to those persons who prayed and never stopped praying for the safety of my son.
It is my hope that one day, I would be given the opportunity to repay the aforementioned kindness that you afforded to me. To my friends, family members, students of Brandon’s class and his teacher, who expressed deep concern for his safety, I am truly grateful. Thanks to Jeannette, Cindy, Laura, Jude and Terence, they were my anchors. My family and I would also like to invite all those who wish to participate in a church service to be held on Sunday November 9, 2003 at the Holy Rosary Church, Henry Street, Port-of-Spain at 9 o’clock in celebration of the miracle which took place on that fateful day. And to my son Brandon, your sense of self-preservation was impeccable, your belief in God unwavering and your bravery unrelenting. I love you son.
