NBN to close
THE NATIONAL Broadcasting will soon cease to exist.
A new company is being formed along commercial lines, and will be 100 percent owned by the State. NBN’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dominic Beaubrun, told staffers yesterday that they were advised by Government that the company will comprise TTT, 98.9 FM, 100.1 FM and 610 AM. The equipment from 91.1 FM and Channel 4 television will be transferred to the Government Information Service. The existing Board will remain in place to help the transition to the new company The new company has a mandate to become commercially viable. TTT News quoted Beaubrun as saying that VSEP will be offered to all staff and management will begin meeting with the representative trade union as early as next week, to begin the process. Workers have not been told the date of NBN’s closure.
