Canada relaxes laws for immigrants

The Canadian government has now relaxed its immigration laws in order to fulfil its employment needs. Immigration consultant, Sukhjinder Sandoo told Sunday Newsday that whereas in the past, the qualifying points for settling in Canada was 75, it has now been reduced to 67 points. In the past, the Canadian High Commission has been noted for its harshness towards locals trying to get a visa to visit the country, sources said. Sandoo said the laws have been relaxed since the government now sees a need for as many as 250,000 immigrants each year. “Unfortunately, Canada, which is one of the largest countries in the world, has a low population of just about 30 million people, therefore, we now need people to fulfil a demand of thousands of jobs each year,” he said. Sandoo said this demand could go on until as far as the year 2011 because of the level of the country’s need for skilled labour.
