Wife dies in crash, husband and baby critical

A 44-year-old woman from Williamsville died in a car crash yesterday while her 47- year-old husband is in critical condition at the San Fernando General Hospital. Also hospitalised is the couple’s one-year-old daughter. Myroon Ali, became the latest road fatality after her husband Shamshore’s station wagon was struck by a ten tonne truck driven by Shiva Balkaran. The accident took place at 12.30 pm yesterday at the layby in Gasparillo. Police reports indicate that Balkaran was travelling south from Port-of-Spain to Palmyra when upon reaching the layby he attempted to overtake a line of vehicles when the collision occurred. Fire officers had to cut Shamshore from the car. Snr Supt Lambert and PC Robinson are investigating.
