Man stabbed in hospital
POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of a clerk at the San Fernando General Hospital last Friday. Bisham Seetaram, 24, was stabbed by a man in front of his fellow employees at the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department around 4.20 pm. Seetaram is an employee of the South West Regional Health Authority and was stationed as a clerk at the A&E Department for the past three months. According to police reports, a man walked into the hospital, whipped out a knife and stabbed Seetaram in the lower part of his chest. The man then ran out of the hospital and escaped.
Seetaram slumped to the ground, bleeding profusely while his shocked colleagues ran to his assistance. He was taken to Ward Three where doctors attended to him. Up to late yesterday, doctors reported his condition as being critical but stable. Police sources said they were still puzzled as to the motive behind the near fatal stabbing. San Fernando CID officers are continuing investigations.
