Who will guard the security guards?

THE EDITOR: Consider kindly two situations that are somewhat amusing: 1) The Laventille Council of Elders had announced its intention to hire gang members as security guards and is approaching the Downtown Owners and Merchants Association for its views. King Austin’s past offering “Who are to guard the guards?” comes to mind!

2) Foreign Minister Knowlson Gift has reported that in spite of the advisory to Finland against cruise-ship travel to Trinidad, a decision has been made to organise more tours to Trinidad! When the PNM in opposition criticised the printing of exercise books with the photo of Mr Panday and the rising sun symbol on the front cover, Mr Panday commented that that concern had made the exercise book a collector’s item more through the Govern-ment printery. Let the UNC continue to preach negative things about Trinidad and Tobago worldwide and TIDCO will have great time. This is happening in the age of the information superhighway.
