NY man to know fate today
HIGH COURT Judge Ivor Archie is today expected to present the closing summation in the trial in which New York resident Ian Palmer Williams is charged with vehicular manslaughter in the deaths of two men who were knocked down and killed along the Beetham Highway in February 2002.
Following Justice Archie’s summation, the jury will retire to deliberate before presenting a verdict in the matter. When the trial resumed yesterday, State attorney Kathy-Ann Waterman-Latchoo and defence attorney SC Desmond Allum reviewed the evidence presented to the court in their closing addresses to the nine-member jury. Williams, of Brooklyn New York, appeared before Justice Archie in the Port-of-Spain Fourth Criminal Court charged with vehicular manslaughter in the deaths of Dalton Raymond 71, and his 19-year-old son Christopher Raymond, who were killed while walking along the shoulder of the Beetham Highway in the vicinity of the landfill. Allum is being assisted in the matter by attorneys Carlye Serrano, Rajiv Persad and Brent Ali.
