Only marriage is true committment

THE EDITOR: I would like the public to know that people who give advice on the radio are ordinary people like themselves. They are not God and do not represent him in any way.

I am referring to the different programmes on marriages. They continue to justify wrong doings and mislead people about the vows that they have made before God and man. Telling them it is not about marriage but about “commitment” to each other. I want people to know marriage is a true commitment. One week ago I was told a story by a good friend in the south land. She is involved with someone else’s husband. He is Guyanese and told her it is now okay to “mash up” his marriage, his wife and kids. Noting that it was said on radio twice in one week, it was not about marriage but about commitment. And it was all about her committing herself to him and not telling him that he had a good wife and that children are not important. She is now of the opinion that it is okay to carry on with the relationship.

I want the public to know God has blessed marriage in every way. Do not listen to the radio and do the wrong thing. The lives of children are important.  Don’t be a good stepparent, be a good parent. They came from you; they are a part of your life. I also want the public to know committing oneself to a man to do the wrong thing cannot stand in the court of law. But a marriage certificate can and does great harm to the committed one.
