Student charged for $1 robbery

A 15-YEAR-OLD student from the Marabella Senior Comprehensive School was yesterday hauled before a San Fernando magistrate to answer a charge of robbing a fellow student of one dollar.

The teen appeared before acting deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington, and was remanded to the Youth Training Centre (YTC) Arouca, to reappear in court today. The incident is said to have occurred on the school compound yesterday morning. The victim who was in the school yard at the time, reported to the school’s principal, that he had been held up by the accused and relieved of one dollar. The principal, viewing the incident as a serious matter, called in the police. PC Sandiford of the Marabella CID, visited the school and took the teen suspect to the police station where the robbery charge was laid. Ag Insp Clarence Boodram prosecuted in the matter yesterday.
