Full plate for AG in Senate
NEW ATTORNEY GENERAL John Jeremie will have a full legislative plate before him when the Senate sits on Tuesday November 18 at 1.30 pm.
Jeremie will have eight bills to present to the Upper House for second reading. These include Acts relating to family proceedings, mediation in Trinidad and Tobago, and amending the Summary Courts Act, the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act, the Commissions of Inquiry Act and the Police Reform Bills which the Opposition UNC has refused to support until Government initiates constitutional reform in TT. UNC Senator and former Works Minister Sadiq Baksh has three questions for his successor Franklyn Khan about the status of the San Fernando Waterfront Development Project, plans for use of the old Piarco Airport Terminal Building and the Solomon Hochoy Highway extension to Golconda. Debate will continue on a motion by Independent Senator Professor Ramesh Deosaran for live parliamentary debates and Opposition motions on equal opportunity legislation and prevention of corruption in public life.
