Ramadan in final stages

DEVOTEES of the Nur-e-Islam Mosque at San Juan are gearing for the sighting of the new moon after the 29th day of fasting.

In anticipation, the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer will be held from 7.30 am on Tuesday November 25, the day declared as a public holiday. If, however, the moon is not seen, then a 30th day of fasting will be observed, after which Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 26.

Meanwhile, as the Muslim Holy Month of Ramadan approaches its final stages, the Imam of the mosque, Maulana Sharaz, has invited all believers to participate in additional worship over the final nights of the month at the mosque premises at El Socorro. According to the Qur’an and Hadeeth, the Night of Power promises great spiritual reward for the sincere worshipper. From the twenty-first night of Ramadan today and continuing on the other nights, the Nur-e-Islam Mosque will provide refreshments through the night along with light meals to start the fast the next morning.
