Woman, 23, raped and robbed

A 23-YEAR-OLD woman from North Trinidad, was raped and robbed while walking home on Saturday night. According to police reports, around 9.30 pm, the victim was accosted by a man who placed a knife to her neck and pulled her into some bushes at the side of the road. He robbed the woman of a quantity of cash and then raped her. After the assault, the man abandoned his victim in the bushes. The terrified woman alerted a passerby who took her to the district police station. After giving police a statement, the woman was taken to a health facility where the District Medical Officer (DMO) examined her and confirmed to police that she had been sexually assaulted. She was subsequently treated by the doctor for shock.  Northern Division officers Cpl Nestor-Bell and WPC Steele are continuing investigations.
