Man with letter writer’s name denies making threats

A person bearing the exact name and address stated on the letter that was sent to House Speaker  Barry Sinanan last week threatening his life has denied any involvement.

The man, from Central Trinidad, stoutly denied any involvement with the threatening letter that had loud racial connotations and death threats. “Not me and threats. I knew nothing about that and have nothing to do with that. While I have my political views, I am not that politically inclined. “It is quite possible that someone wants to malign persons with that name since it is a common name in the Central area. That is what should be investigated, why this name is being used.” In the letter, Sinanan was accused of being a “nigger lover” and the writer called on the Indians to form a “secret society” and assassinate persons who supported the Afro-based ruling People’s National Movement and the allegations of discrimination and racialism. A survey of the telephone directory has identified 30 similar names, with 27 being from the Central district.
