Two to stand trial for murder
Marlon Charles and Abdul Hakim Louis have been committed by Tunapuna Coroner Indra Ramoo Haynes to stand trial for the murder of Sandra Gomez at the next sitting of the Assizes.
The preliminary inquiry, which started in April this year at the Tunapuna Magistrates’ court, saw 24 witnesses before the coroner could pass judgment. It is alleged that Gomez, 35, formerly of Telcom Security Ltd, was shot dead and her firearm stolen by Charles, 28 alias Toby and Abdul, 24, alias Muslim while she worked at Lever Brothers Factory, Eastern Main Road, Champs Fleurs in September 2002. Police later found the firearm and arrested the two men. The men, who were represented by attorneys Afeez Mohammed and Shawn Cazabon, remained motionless as the judgment was read. Sgt Don Lezama laid the charge.
