Couva man drinks brake fluid

A 42-year-old man drank a bottle of brake fluid in front of the Couva Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, mere minutes after appearing before a magistrate on a domestic violence charge. The man, of Perserverance Estate, Couva, is currently warded in serious condition at Ward 11 of the San Fernando General Hospital. Police sources said the man’s wife had pressed charges against him after he physically assualted her. Following the hearing at around 11 am, the man walked out of the court and ingested the brake fluid. The EHS ambulance rushed the man to the Couva Hospital, where he was treated and admitted to Ward 11 in a stable condition. PC Brereton of the Couva CID is investigating.
