Highway horrors to and from Port-of-Spain
THE EDITOR: Could you please highlight the plaguing problem that is the morning and evening traffic on the highway towards Port-of-Spain. As the Christmas season approaches it gets worse and no one seems to be doing anything about it. Going into the capital city is an all morning task and getting out is a crawl. To make matters worse, those who have to venture further into town (St James/Long Circular) has the unenviable joy of the Wrightson Road m?l?e. It is very frustrating and energy sapping. Yet no one seems to want to do anything about it. The Minister sits there and smiles, he gets to use the bus route and zoom to and from his business. Maybe he should have the first hand experience and then he would appreciate the frustration that we go through every day.
And let us not start on the efficient and dependable bus system. The lines extend into next year when you have to leave Port-of-Spain in the evening and after you get on the bus you are too tired to care! Honestly, with the way things are going we would have to rename the capital city Port-of-Pain. Would the transport minister stop playing politics and actually do something about the transport system. But then again, we like it so.
