$.5M ‘weed’ seized in Laventille
A large quantity of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $500,000, was seized by officers of the Santa Cruz Police Station following an exercise in the Laventille area on Thursday morning. The exercise, which began at about 2 am, used the services of the Inter-Services Task Force and Kikki of the K9 Squad. The routine exercise began in the Santa Cruz area. However, the officers’ investigations took them to Febeau Village, Laventille Road, where they searched a house.
It was there the officers found 27 rounds of ammunition and also found 20 .38 special ammunition and seven rounds of 9 mm ammunition. Several bags of marijuana were also found, and an apparatus to weigh the illegal substance. The ammunition and marijuana were seized by the police, who arrested the lone occupant of the home for possession of marijuana and ammunition. The exercise was led by Ag Snr Sup Bishop and Ag ASP Cummings, with the assistance of Constables Mc Milan, Sookram Khanhai, and WPC Roberts. Investigations are continuing.
