Morvant/Laventille top Rivas windball
MORVANT/LAVENTILLE Secondary walked away with a bulging bag of trophies after the distribution of prizes in the Francis Rivas Schoolgirls Windball Cricket League. Apart from winning the NLCB round robin trophy, the Morvant/Laventille girls won the league championship title, Royal Bank Trophy, 15 gold medals and an NLCBN trophy for keeps. And Kimberley Cumberbatch grabbed the most wickets to collect another trophy donated by NLCB. She took 11 wickets.
Teammate Leana Grant took 12 catches, the most in league action. St Joseph’s Convent (PoS) were runners-up and got the silver medals and NLCB trophy, while St Jude’s Girls got the 15 bronze medals and a trophy for finishing third. The St Joseph Convent girls also collected the PoS Mayor Murchison Brown Trophy after being voted Most Disciplined Team, while Marilyn James got a special award for being most dedicated umpire. Anna Mae Joseph of Belmont Junior Secondary collected two individual awards from NLCB for the highest individual score and most runs, while Dernise Barron of St Joseph’s Convent got an NLCB Trophy for taking the first hat-trick and teammate Ayanna Ferret was voted Best Allrounder. The Fairplay Trophy went to Providence who got another NLCB Trophy.
