Boy, 11, held for robbery

AN 11-YEAR-OLD primary schoolboy, already before the courts on a charge of possession of marijuana, was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly beating up a 13-year-old boy and robbing him of $20.

According to police reports, at around 5.15 pm, a 13-year-old Form 2 student of the Couva Junior Secondary School was walking home along the Couva Main Road when he was approached by the 11-year-old student, who demanded that the teen hand over his money. When he refused, the teenager was beaten up by the younger boy and robbed. The primary schoolboy was arrested and charged by PC Radhay Kissoon of Couva police. He  appeared before Couva Senior Magistrate Marcia Ayres-Caesar yesterday, and the matter was adjourned to next Thursday.
