Parking problem at Andy Singh concert

THE EDITOR: Please give a space to highlight an event the Andy Singh in Concert on November 8 at the Hindu Credit Union Convention Centre, Freeport. I would like to know how could HCU build a convention centre and have no parking.

When we got there HCU security told us that we were not allowed to park on the compound and we were instructed to park on the highway which we did. Then shortly after, a jeep load of police officers came and told us “ticket or wreck, which one yuh want.” So I left my family in the car and went into the compound to find out what was happening. There was a big argument between the promoter, HCU security and the police officers. The police said that HCU knows that parking is prohibited on the highway and they were warned several times. I heard the promoter saying, “so why all yuh didn’t say something before giving me the bar licence.” They said that they came to keep law and order by not having people parking on the highway, so I wonder if it was a Carnival fete or African event if they would have done the same thing. The answer is no. Carnival is around the corner. You would see parking all over Wrightson Road and then I want to see if that is law and order.
