Bravo, Ramdin, Jaggernauth join HCU staff
National cricketers Dwayne Bravo, Dinesh Ramdin and Amit Jaggernauth have been offered one-year contracts by the Hindu Credit Union as part of the group’s youth development programme. National team manager Omar Khan said the three players who will begin work today will be exposed to different aspects of HCU’s operations in order to be better able to handle the outside world. “The guys will be used in the marketing and public relations departments for the next year and will now be able to learn essential tools for the future. “They will now have a salary coming in at the end of the month and can now concentrate properly on their cricket and don’t have to worry about finances. They will be able to stabilise their personal life and this will go a long way to helping in the game.”
Khan added: “I must applaud the efforts of the HCU as they are investing in the future of our nation by investing in its youths. “The three players have a bright future ahead and they can really go very far in the game. “Ramdin is the West Indies Under-19 captain for the Youth World Cup in Bangladesh next year and his stint at the HCU will help him deal with the media and public in a professional manner. “Bravo is a fringe West Indies player and this job can really be the stabilising influence he needs to get ahead and make the West Indies senior team.” Khan was also hopeful that Jaggernauth will now be spurred on to make the Trinidad and Tobago senior team and then the West Indies team. “Jaggernauth as we all know is a very talented player and this opportunity will further help him to develop as a person.” Jaggernauth has been working with HCU’s Radio Shakti in the news department for the past year.
