Businessman to appear in court

A 40-year-old prominent businessman of California is expected to appear before Couva Magistrate Marcia Caesar-Ayres today to answer charges of possession of arms and ammunitions. In an early morning exercise which started at midnight on Thursday and ended at 10 am on Friday, police officers responded to a tip-off that the man had in his possession an illegal firearm. The officers then executed a search warrant during which they seized a .32 pistol and 158 rounds of ammunitions was discovered. The businessman was subsequently arrested and charged by PC Radhay Kissoon of the Couva Police Station.
