Fancy Man best boat at President’s series
TOTAL catch weighing 166 pounds and ten ounces distinguished Fancy Man over the competition as the Trinidad and Tobago Game Fishing Associa-tion hosted the one day Presi-dent’s Fishing Tournament off the Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Club on Sunday.
Organisers were pleased with the turn out for the event which attracted 31 boats, a competition record, and 126 anglers registered and a total of 1,345 pounds of fish were hooked. Skippered by Blaine Hosang, Fancy Man was adjudged “Best Boat” on the day, with Richard McComie, one of its anglers, snaring the heaviest Wahoo at 82 pounds, eight ounces. Nelly Gwyn skippered by Stephan Merry was runner-up with Predator captained by Brendon Farfan third and Moon Shadow with Mark Thompson at the helm next. Suzette Aboud aboard Outcast had a catch of 82 pounds and four ounces to take the “Best Women Angler” accolade. Her kingfish catch also earned her first second and third in the Heaviest Kingfish category.
Among the junior anglers, Alexandra Miller aboard “Lady M” with a nine pound four ounce total won the “Best Junior Angler Female” prize, while Brett Thompson angling from “Moon Shadow” hooked 54 pounds and 12 ounces to be the “Best Junior Angler Male.” Prizes will be distributed at the Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Club during the president’s cocktail party on Wednesday from 7 pm.
Here is the honours roll (Best Boat): 1. Fancy Man (166lbs 10 ozs); 2. Nelly Gwyn, (141lbs and 10 ozs); 3. Predator (140lbs 2 ozs); 4. Moon Shadow (137lbs 12 ozs).
